Create a perfect city experience for more than 1,000 employees (and for their family members as well) in Barcelona and explain important business principles with local examples in a relaxed and playful way over four days – that was the brief for our Catalan adventure.
For more than a year, we conducted field research for this XXL city trip, visited every nook and cranny, inspecting them for their potential. Everything that passed the test became part of the unforgettable program that inspired these sophisticated guests fully.
We created the tour guide ourselves: In digital form as a self-developed app for the company’s BlackBerrys, accurately navigating the guests through the narrow streets and across the broad promenades of the city in numerous small groups. Seemingly random but precisely as planned, their paths crossed again and again – in daring venues and in places not exactly typical for company retreats.
And Carlos y Marisol, our two welcoming dyed-in-the-wool – if fictional – Barcelonese hosts, showed the guests their beautiful city – true to the motto "A visit with friends."
Workshops a la Catalan, which were nevertheless geared toward corporate goals, and a festive gala among the vines of the vineyard Oller del Mas were among the many highlights of the long weekend. Out of 1,200 bottles of white wine, only a few collectors’ bottles of the 2011 vintage are left.
We would have loved to be our own guests!
